Sailing Yacht A

A GIANT yacht worth an estimated £360 million (€422 million) will undergo rigorous testing in southern Spain before being delivered to Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko.

The 468-foot-long vessel is one of the largest sailing yachts in the world and took German shipyard Nobiskrug four years to complete.

There is enough space inside to house 20 guests as well as a crew of 54 and it even has space to house a submarine.

The boat’s three 300-foot masts are taller than the Elizabeth Tower, home of Big Ben.

A helicopter pad will feature on one of its eight decks as well as a 193 square foot glass underwater observation pod.

Project Director, Dirk Kloosterman said Sailing Yacht A was “the most challenging assignment of my career” and is confident it “will be the world’s greatest yacht in terms of design and technology for the years ahead.”
