AN off-duty police officer leapt onto the tracks of the Madrid Metro after a passenger waiting for a train collapsed and fell onto the line.
The officer was making his way home when he noticed the man was very near to the edge of the platform.
Suddenly the traveller pitched forward onto the tracks.
The National Police officer jumped down to rescue the man who was unconscious and bleeding profusely.
With the help of others the injured man was pulled back onto the platform where the officer put him in the recovery position and monitored his vital signs until paramedics arrived.
