Police arrested thirteen people in connection with a drugs ring accused of distributing large quantities of cocaine over southern Spain and Levante.
An investigation launched by the police in March led them to the suspected ringleader, who owned a number of properties across Spain as well as a fleet of vehicles.
The cocaine was transported in hidden compartments in small quantaties – between two and five kilos – and sent to the southern provinces of Cadiz, Malaga, Sevilla, Huelva, Alicante, Toledo and Plasencia.
The suspects were all arrested in Getafe (Madrid), although police believe there are accomplices all over the country.
Following the arrests, raids in nine different towns uncovered five kilos of cocaine, €35, 000 in cash, 20 mobile phones, five vehicles and a rifle.
