Cock fight broken up and a number of people arrested

OFFICERS of the Guardia Civil, working together with the Local Police of Guadassuar, Valencia Province have arrested eight people and investigated a further 20 with regards to animal abuse.

Having become aware of rumours that there may be an event featuring cock fighting in the town, officers started trying to identify the site of the event and those involved in arranging it.

They then raided the place where the cock fighting was taking place and shut it down, taking the details of 300 attendees who had paid €10 each to watch and bet on the fights.

Fifty-nine birds, including some which were injured or had been operated on to make their spurs more dangerous were rescued and eight people were arrested with €5,500 seized together with mobile phones, lists of rules and an entry stamp.
