England football captains take part in anti-abuse advice film

NSPCC

Three captains of England football sides, including Wayne Rooney, have spoken out in a film encouraging children and young people to come forward if they believe they have suffered abuse.
A helpline set up by the NSPCC has received hundreds of calls, many of them from ex-players who have contacted them about claims of historical abuse.
The FA has set up an internal inquiry to look into the allegations which surfaced after a number of ex-players came forward, several alleging abuse by a former Crewe Alexandria coach.
It is thought 18 police forces are now conducting inquiries or reviewing claims of abuse.
The film features the Manchester United star and Steph Houghton and Jack Rutter who captain England’s women’s and cerebral palsy teams respectively.
