Spanish ‘Spider-fireman’ sends social media into meltdown

A COMPETITION between two firefighters has gone viral on social media after a video of their race up a building attracted more than 2 million views.

The two men raced each other up a nine-storey building at Hortaleza fire station in Madrid, with one of them running up the stairs and the other climbing monkey-style up the outside.

Incredibly, the latter won the challenge by several seconds, leading to him being dubbed ‘The Spider-Fireman.’

The 45-year-old man, named only as ‘Alejandro,’ managed to scale the nine floors in just 30 seconds, and although some commenters criticised the stunt over the apparent lack of safety gear employed, he was in fact wearing a harness, and the majority were left astounded by his feat.
