A GROUP of representatives from Clermont L’Herault in France have been on a visit to Huercal-Overa with an aim to starting procedures to twin the two towns.
During their stay, the visitors were given tours of the main tourist attractions of the local town and given some insight into its traditions and history and, of course, were presented with an image of Huercal’s Tree of Life to carry home with them.
Twinning of the two towns is a particularly popular idea as the mayor of Clermont in fact descends from a local family which moved to France and still has relatives living in Las Norias. In fact, more than half the population of Clermont is of Spanish descent.
