MICHELLE KEEGAN: Filming drama Tiny & Bobby on the island.
ENGLISH actress Michelle Keegan caused a stir when her film crew entourage took over too much space at a Mallorca hotel for the liking of angry tourists, who promptly staged a poolside towel protest.
The former Coronation Street star is filming the ITV drama Tiny & Bobby on the island and the crew had reportedly cordoned off the large pool and sunbeds, upsetting a group of German guests, who held up their towels and protested at the reception.
Keegan and company were quickly forced to move to the nearby children’s pool to film the scenes.
It is unclear whether the anger went slightly deeper than the restricted poolside access. The upcoming drama is based on a biopic of Bobby Moore, captain of the England team that narrowly defeated West Germany to win the 1966 World Cup – a result that still courts controversy among German fans 50 years on.

Ooops – is that a bit of jingoism in the report. From my experience the German loss of the world Cup in 1966 is hardly known amongst my German friends – it just isn’t important to them. Granted it’s important to the English psych but honestly not to the Germans. The reason – England , since 1950 has only won once (on home turf) and advances to the quarter finals once. Germany on the other hand has been in the quarter finals or beyond fifteen times and won 4 times – so you see a single year’s results just gets muddled into all the other successes they have had in the competition. We Brits should really strive to get over this infatuation with 1966 and concentrate on 2016 and beyond….
