Little Geranium continues to bloom

Steven and Michele.

LESS than 18 months after master chef Steven Saunders and his partner Michele opened the Little Geranium restaurant in the heart of La Cala de Mijas, their gourmet restaurant has risen to number three in the best restaurants in the area according to reviews on Trip Advisor.

Many chefs would be pleased with this result after having to establish a whole new clientele not only in a new town but in a new country but this isn’t quite good enough for former Michelin star holder Steven who opines that he had promised Michele that they would be number one by the time that they got married and that is just around the corner!

The happy couple have been partners for some time now but although engaged even before coming to Spain, they agreed that they needed to concentrate on the restaurant and make sure that it was a success before entering into the formal ceremony of marriage.

Clearly, they were successful and the Little Geranium is busy all of the time, attracting customers from all over Spain as well of plenty of expats who all leave glowing reviews about the restaurant which changes its menu on a monthly basis.

On Monday September 19, Michele and Steven will be married in front of a small number of family and close friends at the El Oceano Hotel just along the coast and those privileged few will enjoy specially prepared Lobster, Beef Wellington and a secret chocolate desert washed down with a selection of French and Spanish wines as well as ‘Porn Star Martini’s’.

Whilst you won’t be able to attend the wedding lunch or later dinner, you can sample some of the innovative and indeed delicious food at the Little Geranium and help the couple to reach the number one spot in La Cala and who knows, a future Michelin star.
