Improvements to Nerja Caves

IN LOCATION: First cave to use an underground audio guide.

NEW technology introduced in the Nerja Caves will bring a prehistoric monument into the 21st century thanks to the introduction of a fibre optic network allowing the use of an underground audio guide called ‘In Location’ which is the first cave system to offer such a service.

Although this will be implemented in stages, in order to make the least possible impact on the cave and its surrounding, it will also have the ability to track the numbers and whereabouts of visitors as well as making it easy to display photographs and videos which otherwise could not be used ‘in situ.’

Bearing in mind the high moisture levels within the cave, all equipment will be properly insulated and it is hoped that once everything is in place, it will be possible to introduce tours of the cave on a half hourly basis.
