MORE ACCESSIBLE: Mayor Andreu Verdu and councillors at Playa Centro.
AS in previous years, Villajoyosa has marked out a bathing area for those with mobility problems. A section has been roped off at the Centro beach and installed with equipment acquired with the collaboration of the Valencian Tourism Agency.
Railings, awnings and seats set up in the water all make it easier for those with disabilities to enjoy the sea in safety. The accessible beach facilities will be available until September 15 from 10am-2pm and from 4pm-9pm.
These were used by 3,700 people in 2015 and the same number or more are expected this year, said La Vila’s mayor Andreu Verdu, who visited Playa Centro with Marta Selles and Jose Ramon Ucles. “The accessible beach project is essential if we want to guarantee that those with mobility problems can enjoy the seaside. And we are proud to have been able to extend the service this year,” Ucles said.
