The seized drugs.
TWELVE people have been arrested by the National Police suspected of forming part of a large drug trafficking group operating from Almeria Province.
The group, the police force explained, used a vegetable transport company as a cover up for high quality marihuana trucked down and bought from Almeria, Granada and Murcia to be vacuum packed at a stables in Nijar. The drugs were then stored at a warehouse on Huercal de Almeria’s industrial estate before being concealed between vegetables in rented lorries and transported to Central Europe.
During the police operation a lorry was intercepted on the A7 motorway heading for Murcia with 205 kilos of marihuana, one of the biggest hauls of its type in Spain, concealed amongst onions which were to be sold in Berlin.
