Police hunt for dead baby’s father in Almeria

Guardia Civil

Hicham BB, suspected of killing his 45-day-old son

THE authorities are searching for Hicham BB, the 35-year-old Moroccan father of a 45-day-old baby that was found dead in Campohermoso, Nijar, Almeria on Friday (June 24).

The Guardia Civil has reported that surveillance is in place on all major transport centres in the province in an attempt to stop the man, suspected of killing his son, leaving the area, but has said that the large number of African families in the area who may have taken him in are making the search complicated.

The general public has been asked to look out for the suspect, who is of large build and measures 1.85 metres with short black hair, and call 062 or 950 256 112 if they have any information on his whereabouts.

Emergency services were alerted to the presence of a baby with serious head injuries at 1.40pm on Friday, and police officers and paramedics were sent to the home, however the baby was pronounced dead on arrival. The mother was treated at a local health centre for minor injuries, Nijar Mayor Esperanza Perez later reported.
