MARINA DAY: An initiative launched to encourage visitors to enjoy ports.
AS of today (June 11) and throughout the week, Marina del Este in Almuñecar will be celebrating Marina Day, part of an initiative launched by the Federation of Sports and Tourist Ports to encourage visitors.
The initiative is intended to “bring the ports closer to the people” and includes a range of activities, nautical and non-nautical, for all ages to attract visitors, Manuel Raigon Aragon, director of the marina management, explained.
Many people typically consider pleasure ports and marinas to be closed, elitist environments, the marina director said, and this project hopes to prove that they are actually open to everyone looking to enjoy nautical, cultural, leisure and gastronomical activities.
Many businesses within the marina will be offering discounts on Saturday, and schools and associations have been invited to visit next week to see the marina for themselves.
