GATOR-AID: The animal appeared nonplussed as it wandered by.
An enormous alligator pootled its way across a Florida course as horrified golfers looked on, with one even managing to film the bizarre sight.
Charles Helms was enjoying a round with a friend at the Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Palmetto when the huge reptile ambled into view.
“That is the biggest freakin’ alligator I have ever seen in my life,” he was heard to say as he recorded the predator on his smartphone as it sauntered past.
“Jesus, that must be 15 feet long,” a second man said off-camera, with another adding: “You gotta be kidding me.”
He even thought the creature might be a practical joke due to its massive size.
“I was stunned and silent,” he told ABC Action News.
“I didn’t know if we were being punked or something.
“It was just laying down, resting, when it got up and started moving towards the big lake.”
This is not the first time the ‘gator has been seen taking a stroll around the greens, as it has reportedly been around for years.
“He doesn’t bother anybody and they don’t bother him, he’s like a mascot for the course,” course employee Wendy Schofield told 3 News.
“He has been here for a very, very long time … There have been guesses that he’s 15 to 16 feet long.”
It remains unconfirmed whether the animal has been assigned a handicap.
