NO MORE: Endless walking in circles in Alhaurin de la Torre.
ANIMAL lovers in Alhaurin de la Torre are celebrating as the council has announced that there will be no pony attractions permitted at this year’s San Juan fair, which will be running from June 22 to 26.
Festivities councillor Mario Perez made the announcement on Tuesday (May 17), explaining that the attractions had been removed from the list of those allowed at the fair by popular demand, as the council strives to make the town’s fair keep up with the times and the peoples’ desires.
“We want to create a fun, modern fair with something for all that also respects animals,” Perez stressed.
Over recent years the council has tried to do everything possible for ponies at the fair, the councillor said, with regular inspections to ensure the animals were well looked after, kept in decent conditions and not overworked.
However, this year, Perez continued, petitions from the public were followed and the attractions banned outright.
