FILM SCREENINGS: One free movie will be shown each week.
SCIENCE FICTION aficionados should prepare for one giant leap for Torremolinos over the next couple of months, as the ‘Cinematica’ series of film screenings, organised by the town council’s Department of Culture and audiovisual collective CROMA, is now underway.
A sci-fi classic will be presented at 7pm every Friday evening until June 24, with free entry until the auditorium at the Pablo Ruiz Picasso cultural centre reaches capacity.
Each movie will be preceded by an introduction (in Spanish) from film critic Francisco Arribal, and the series kicked off strongly with Stanley Kubrick’s magnum opus ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ on Friday May 6.
This will be followed by Ridley Scott’s claustrophobic chiller ‘Alien’ on May 13, with other futuristic flicks on offer including Ron Howard’s ‘Apollo 13,’ Danny Boyle’s ‘Sunshine,’ and Alfonso Cuaron’s ‘Gravity,’ among others.
