Hair today and gone tomorrow for Zurgena expatriate

HAIRY EXPERIENCE: Nick Ainsworth’s hair took 20 years to grow.

A BRITISH expatriate in Zurgena is to undergo a radical transformation in aid of charity this weekend.

Nick Ainsworth, famous for his bushy beard and long thick plait, is raising money for ASAPE, a children’s charity which support families and children suffering from the rare Perthes disease, a painful condition which affects the hip joints.

A child in the town suffers from the disease and local people have rallied round to help raise money for the charity. This Saturday, May 14, Ainsworth will have his 20-year-old plait cut off and his beard shaved.

Local residents, businesses and the town council have sponsored the event, which will include fun and games, such as face painting for children, a raffle, music and fun characters for children to have photos with.

Helping to organise the event is Ainsworth’s wife Virginia, who told Euro Weekly News: “I hope we can raise lots of money for this little-known charity, and help children suffering from this disease.

Come along and enjoy the fun at 4pm in the Plaza del Olmo, Zurgena.
