PONIENTE BEACH: Two 24-storey apartment blocks are to be built.
BENIDORM is building again. The town hall recently granted planning permission for Sunset Drive, the first big project since the economic crisis.
An Alicante City company will build two 24-storey apartment blocks on the Poniente side of town near the InTempo building.
That was the last big project to be started in the resort, but construction has halted and the property is now in the hands of Spain’s ‘bad bank’ Sareb.
The Sunset Drive promoters do not expect to encounter InTempo’s problems.
The first block of apartments are due to be finished by September next year and 40 of the planned 264 apartments have already been sold.
“We know this is a tight and ambitious schedule because a building like this can take two years to finish, but we are confident that it’s possible thanks to new techniques,” said Sunset Drive director Pablo Serna.
