Neighbourhood has finally had a facelift

WORK: Included creating new green zones, a recreational area and a bike lane.

A LONG neglected area of Motril has finally received a facelift.

The area near the Old Chocolate Factory, as well as the Zona de Actividades Logisticas (ZAL) and its surroundings, have been completely transformed thanks to an urban reform project that has been carried out by the Motril Council.

The project was co-financed with regional development funds from the European Union. The final budget of the work was about €380,000.

Local residents had long been complaining about the lamentable state of the area. They will now be able to enjoy a space with new green zones, a recreational area and a bike lane, which links the area to the beach.

Shortly after the work was completed, local Mayor Flor Almon and other council members went to visit the area to see the results first-hand.

Almon expressed her certainty that now “the zone is going to change into a vital meeting point for residents where they can walk, play sports or play with their children in an exceptional place.”
