Rooney left waiting for Chinese Super League bid

INJURED Wayne Rooney may not be headed for the Chinese Super League in 2016, reports from February 19 confirm. 

Manchester United have received no bids for the United skipper, who was rumoured to be contemplating a transfer as a marquee player this summer. 

The transfer window for the Chinese Super League will close on February 26 and has already seen a number of top players secured. 

Super League team Jiangsu Suning F.C. recently spent £38m (€48.9m) signing Brazilian Alex Teixeira of Ukranian Premier League’s FC Shakhtar Donetsk, breaking the CSL transfer record for the third time in ten days. 

Before Teixeira’s signing on February 5, Jiangsu Suning had secured fellow Brazilian Ramires for £21m (€26.9m)while Guangzhou Evergrande snapped up Columbian Jackson Martinez for £31.5m (€40.4m). 

Other big money signings by Chinese clubs this transfer window include former Roma forward Gervinho’s £13.5m (€17.3m) transfer to Hebei China Fortune and Fredy Guarin’s (€12.5m).  switch from Inter Milan to Shanghai Shenhua.
