50th birthday to Mojacar Parador

MOJACAR’S Parador turns 50 this year. The landmark property was one of the first buildings in the beach area, and survived the economic crash which resulted in the closure of other Paradores across Spain.

Paradores are a government-owned chain of hotels with a concept dating back to the turn of the last century.

The original choice of location for Almeria’s only Parador was Roquetas de Mar, but thanks to the determination of then-mayor Jacinto Alarcon, the luxury facility was built in Mojacar.
