The Costa del Sol´s Commonwealth of Municipalities wants to make sure its beaches are ready for tourists by Easter and will therefore be bringing deadlines forward and putting buoys and markers into place in early April.
“This will increase safety for people who want to use our beaches, as befits a top destination like the Costa del Sol”, said Margarita del Cid, Commonwealth head. Councils will have until December 23 to sign up for the buoy-fitting campaign and this year the maritime authorities and Environmental Department will be asked to mark pool-shaped swimming areas of about 100 by 50 metres, del Cid explained.
