Pope Francis Philadelphia 2015

WAKE UP, it is almost here. The record label Believe Digital has announced the November 27 release of a rock album ´Wake up´ by Pope Francis.

The album will feature 11 songs with a distinct rocky feel, for which the pope seems to have an affinity, unfortunately, the Holy Father won´t be singing though. The songs will contain bits and pieces of prayers and speeches by the pope in English, Italian, Portuguese and his native tongue, Spanish.

The music was written by Tony Pagliuca, an Italian rock singer, and is produced by Don Giulio Neroni, who worked with both Pope John Paul II and Benedict XVI.

When interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine, Neroni said: “As in the past, for this album, I tried to be strongly faithful to the pastoral and personality of Pope Francis: the Pope of dialogue, open doors, hospitality. For this reason, the voice of Pope Francis in Wake Up! dialogues music. And contemporary music dialogues with the Christian tradition of sacred hymns.”

Two of the songs ‘Wake up! Go! Go! Forward!’ and ‘Por que Sufren los Niños’ can already be listened to on music services like Soundcloud and iTunes. ‘Wake up! Go! Go! Forward!’ is a speech the pope gave to a crowd in South Korea and is the only English language track on the album.
