THE first big traffic diversions in Malaga City due to metro works on the Alameda Principal came into effect on Wednesday afternoon, at rush hour, and unfortunately it did not go smoothly.
Avenida de Andalucia was cut off to traffic heading towards the city centre and vehicles were sent along Albert Camus towards Alameda de Colon or El Pasillo del Matadero.
However, about an hour later, due to the total chaos caused by the diversions which were put into effect in the busiest hours of the day, the Local Police ordered the roads be reopened.
Road closures are ongoing as of Thursday morning as authorities continue to balance the metro works with the traffic situation in the city.
