A SPANISH student who was studying German in Berlin has died of his injuries after being stabbed in a motiveless attack in Berlin in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The student, identified as Alejandro G, was among friends in a popular nightlife area of the German capital, Kreuzberg, when a stranger approached him and stabbed him with a knife.

Alejandro and his friends began to run away until his friends noticed that he was injured and had fallen to the ground.

Police told Spanish media: “This attack is hard to understand, they did not know each other, they did not have contact before, no fight. It was sudden with no known justification.”

Alejandro was taken to hospital where he later died of his injuries and police have asked for any witnesses to the incident to contact them.

The attacker has been described as a man of slim build in his late twenties with either a moustache or goatee.
