WORK on Salobreña’s seafront promenade is due to restart this month, the coastal authority has announced.
The stretch of seafront between Salomar 2000 and the end of the beach was destroyed by a storm at the end of February, forcing the authorities to announce a renovation project.
To avoid inconvenience over the summer months, the project was split into two parts. First sand was dug out from underneath the promenade and replaced with concrete and a small protective wall built.
Now the summer is over, the authority has announced, the 450 metre stretch will be worked upon to create a pedestrian promenade bordered by gardens.
Although it will be closed to traffic the new promenade will be accessible to maintenance and emergency vehicles, the authority explained.
The work, with a €200,000 budget, should be finished by the end of January.
