THREE British tourists are standing trial on November 4 after being arrested 10 years ago for attempting to use fake euro banknotes in Magaluf and Calvià.

At the time of their arrest, the men were aged between 22 and 24.

Whilst on holiday in Calvià, the young men attempted to use fake €50 notes on July 17 2005 at the Bananas discotheque in Magaluf, and will now face trial in Palma de Mallorca.

It was later discovered that some of the notes had the same serial numbers, and the men possessed a total value of €2,200 in fake notes.

They could face a prison sentence of up to five years each as well as fines of €1,500.
