SPANISH fashion businessman, Amancio Ortega briefly surpassed billionaire Bill Gates as the richest man in the world, according to Forbes on October 23.
In Forbes’ real time wealth tracker, Ortega’s net worth nearly equalled $80 billion in stock shares for his holding company Industria de Diseño Textil.
Gates was knocked off the money spot after ZARA’s founding chairman, Ortega’s worth increased between Thursday and Friday by about $4 billion. However, Gates reclaimed his title at the top by Friday midday.
