Alleged Guadalhorce Valley avocado thief arrested

A MAN has been arrested in the Guadalhorce Valley for allegedly stealing avocados and other crops from farms in Alhaurin el Grande, Alhaurin de la Torre and Cartama.

After some farmers reported thefts and others spoke to officers about them, but refused to place reports for fear of reprisals, officers began surveillance and investigations which led to the arrest of a white van driver found to be carrying 5,000 kilos of stolen avocados.

The driver, the Guardia Civil reported, searched for targets and kept watch in the afternoons then went back to carry out the thefts during the night.
