PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: Classic car lovers in La Herradura are in for a rare treat.
THIS year La Herradura has been chosen as a stop-over for the Spain Classic Raid car rally, a unique classic car race from Barcelona to Sevilla along dirt tracks.
Deputy Mayor for La Herradura Juan Jose Ruiz Joya announced that the race, running from October 17 to 24, will be hosting the end of stage seven and start of stage eight on October 23 and 24 respectively.
The event is of great importance to the area, Ruiz Joya said, as it will attract the attention of many extra visitors who would otherwise not know of its existence.
The rally kicks off this Saturday, October 17, from Barcelona and the classic motoring jewels will be arriving in La Herradura from Tabernas (Almeria) on October 23. After staying the night, they will leave from the beach the following morning for their final run to Sevilla.
This is the only regular classic car rally on dirt tracks in Spain. Altogether participants will travel 2,100 kilometres in cars aged 25 or over.
