Tragic bank holiday Sunday for Mijas roads

TWO men lost their lives on Mijas roads on Sunday (October 11) in two separate accidents.

At 3.15pm, emergency services reported, a 60-year-old man died after his motorbike left a road near the racecourse and fell down a 10 metre embankment. Although an ambulance was quickly sent to the scene attempts to revive him were in vain.

Later that evening, just before midnight, a 33-year-old driver also died in a head-on collision with another car near Calahonda after driving at least one kilometre on the wrong side of the A7 motorway, the traffic authorities reported.

A 37-year-old woman travelling in the other car was injured and taken to the Costa del Sol hospital.
