Alleged Axarquia burglars arrested

THREE men have been arrested by the National Police in Malaga City for allegedly breaking into at least seven homes in Alcaucin, Velez-Malaga, Canillas de Aceituno and Rincon de la Victoria.

Investigations began at the end of September when officers on patrol near a secondhand shop in the city witnessed an exchange of electronic goods for cash between passengers of a car and two people known to trade in illicit goods.

After confiscating the goods, officers found they had been reported stolen from a home in Alcaucin. Further investigations led officers to believe that the three men, aged 33, 32 and 29, drove around quiet residential complexes to choose a target.

Two of the men were in charge of breaking in through windows or back doors using tools they later buried on empty building plots, while the driver kept watch at complex entrances.

The three were charged with burglary, belonging to a criminal group and resisting arrest and the case has been passed on to a court.
