Man arrested for making up a crime in Malaga City

A MAN has been arrested in Malaga City for making up a robbery to try and claim compensation from his insurance company.

The 27-year-old went to a police station on September 14 and reported that the day beforehand, while cycling in the Montes de Malaga hills, another cyclist, who he described, had stopped next to him, pulled out a knife and forced him to hand over his camera and €150 in cash.

Yet investigations revealed that in fact the man had fallen off his bike and broken the camera, and decided to make up the story to cheat the insurance company out of a new one.
