SUMMER is over in Torremolinos, and Civil Protection volunteers have reported that over the season they dealt with more than 5,000 incidents but there were no deaths on local beaches.

Most of the incidents were jellyfish stings; 2,266 in July and 1,639 in August. Thirty-four people were rescued from the water, 654 injuries or minor medical problems dealt with and 54 lost people were found.

The local mayor has awarded the volunteers diplomas for their excellent work.
