Film studios for Almeria suggested

THE president of the Almeria Diputacion Gabriel Amat has suggested that Almeria could have its own film studios.

Amat made the hint as he signed a collaboration agreement with Almeria City Hall on the ‘Almeria en corto’ festival of short films to be held later this month.  He echoed earlier statements from city mayor Luis Rogelio Rodriguez-

Comendedor who has said previously that Almeria Province, where so many movies and series are shot, needs film studios.

Discussing the possibility earlier this year, the mayor stressed that these should be the antithesis of the under-used multimillion Ciudad de la Luz studios in Alicante which fell foul of Brussels over funding and are now closed.

The film studio idea is hardly new as Antonio Rodriguez Segura, now the head of the Diputacion’s Culture Department and former Nijar mayor, planned to build studios and post-production laboratories there.

Investors are now interested in the project, Amat revealed this week.
