NERJA BOOK CENTRE are inviting customers to enjoy bubbly while browsing through the astonishing 30,000 book collection on Thursday 8th October 2015 17:00-20:00 in store Calle Granada 32, Nerja.
Derek Hands, founder of the Nerja Book Centre, has been in business for thirty-years and has an outstanding collection of 30,000 books in all categories in 15 languages, the main ones being English, Spanish, German, French and Swedish. There is also a large selection of ‘collectors’ items, such as first editions, signed and rare copies which Derek has painstakingly built up over the years.
The cheapest books in the shop sell for €0.90, the most expensive is a signed and inscribed First Edition of the 14th Dalai Lama’s autobiography which is priced at €1,000.
On August 30th, 2011, having guided the bookshop through thick and thin for thirty years, Derek decided it was time for a life of leisure and the reins were passed on to his son, 24-year-old Leslie; a case of ‘hands-to-hands.’
Since then, the company now offers an ‘online book service’ whereby you can order your favourite reading topic via the Internet and have it delivered to your home.
The online service began by offering a number of the more ‘collectable’ items but has already expanded to include a selection of what could be termed more ‘regular’ items, such as novels, autobiographies and books on history and art. It is a service which will continually and rapidly expand in scope in the near future.
Leslie welcomes all customers to enjoy the event on Thursday 8 October. Cupcakes and cava will be served as well as giveaways of collectables and first editions. And to top it off, there will be a free raffle!
