MAX Verstappen is Formula 1’s youngest ever driver but was too young to take his car on the road, even though his Red Bull racing car can travel at speeds of more than 200 mph.
The Belgian-born Dutchman took and passed his driving test on September 30 as soon as he reached his 18th birthday.
Even though he has competed in 14 grands prix since his Australian debut in March this year, the young driver admitted to feeling the pressure during his test.
“It’s a relief,” said the Toro Rosso driver, who finished ninth in Japan on Sunday and had only started driving lessons a week ago. “I was a bit nervous to make mistakes, but the exam went well.”
Now that he is 18, when he does eventually make it to the podium, not only will he be able to spray the other drivers with champagne, he will be able to drink it as well.
