Another walking route around the Mojacar area

RIO AGUAS: New path follows the river.

FURTHERING its commitment to nature tourism, Mojacar Council has completed a new route for walkers.

It runs from Marina de la Torre, along the River Aguas then up to Huertas de las Parras where it connects with the existing Las Huertas path to reach Mojacar Old Town.

The 3.5-kilometre route is an easy one and suitable for both children and adults. Plans for the path were discussed during meetings between the town hall and local hotels who are keen to promote nature tourism during the low season. The €5,500 cost was met by the town hall and is Mojacar’s third walking route in addition to the existing Mena-Macenas and Las Huertas paths.

Sports tourism is steadily increasing as foreign cycling and motorcycling teams make Mojacar their winter training centre due to its good weather, tarmac roads and the diversity of the terrain.

“We are continually looking for new ways for tourists to can enjoy the old town, the scenery and everything else that Mojacar has to offer,” Emmanuel Agüero, Tourism councillor stated.
