RENFE and Adif rail company workers’ committees have called further partial strikes for Friday (September 25), although trade unions have declared that rail travel will hardly be affected.
The partial strikes were announced for midnight to 2am, 1pm to 3pm and 8pm to 10pm and are due to involve workers from Cercanias, medium and long distance and high speed AVE services.
Rail workers are protesting over what they consider to be precarious contracts, an unfair salary reduction and a lack of replacement workers to fill empty posts.
Comisiones Obreras stated that the rail companies had not budged at all from their initial stance regarding key aspects of the negotiations, leading to the strikes, which will also be held on October 2, 9, 16 and 23.
