Another lot of European rubbish

THE first ship carrying waste since the new Regional Government took office, the Bouga, arrived in Alcudia Port last week.

It was carrying 3,500 tonnes of rubbish from Ireland to be burned at the Son Reus plant.

The team in office promised during their electoral campaign that they would take the necessary measures to stop rubbish from other parts of Europe from being brought to Mallorca. However, they say that this arrival was agreed in a prior contract which they were unable to stop. During the summer months, no waste is brought to the island.
