Torrox celebrates its very own Oktoberfest

WITH the largest community of German residents in Spain, Torrox wants to celebrate one of the most important festivities from ‘Deutschland:’ Oktoberfest.

Mayor of Torrox, Oscar Medina, presented details of the event together with tourism Councillor, Sandra Extremera. It will take place between September 25 and 27, and has been specially chosen to given German residents a taste of their home country.

Torrox has the largest population of German expats in the whole of Spain, with as many as 3,000 registered residents and more than 3,000 who visit the town every year. In addition, this traditionally German event is to be paired up with local customs and typical elements of the area including flamenco performances and other folkloric shows of music and dance, without forgetting the vital German food and beer. On Saturday, events will take place from 2pm to 1am and Sunday from 11am to 10pm.

The official inauguration event is to take place on Friday, September 25 at 6pm in Avenida America and on the paseo. British singer, Flip, and German Fred will perform every day. There will also be zumba dancing and activities for children.
