Parents against ‘cardboard’ classrooms

HUNDREDS of parents of students from the Las Naciones school in Velez-Malaga have carried out a demonstration to protest against the increase of prefabricated classrooms in the facilities.

A total of 350 students of the 525 enrolled in this school will have to carry on with their studies inside these prefabricated rooms, raising the complaints of more than 300 parents.

Together with their children, they have hoisted signs denouncing that the school lacks facilities such as a canteen, a library, a playground, an events hall or a computer lab. In addition, they have complained that the children have to eat in three different shifts to fit inside the room designated for this purpose.

Spokesperson of the Save Las Naciones Platform said that they do not believe the promises told by the Education Departments to solve the solution and announced that they will continue carrying out demonstrations during the academic year until they achieve their purpose: the construction of a proper school for their children.
