REAL MADRID president Florentino Perez has been relaxing in Mallorca aboard his luxury yacht.

Following a busy few months, Perez is visiting the island and enjoying his yacht, the Pitina III, which cost him €18 million 10 years ago and is named after his late wife.

It is based in Puerto Portals and is even more luxurious than the one owned by the boss of fashion chain Inditex, Amancio Ortega, one of the richest men in the world according to the Forbes list.

It is moored amongst other millionaires’ yachts and is not used frequently. Nor does Perez tend to invite people to use it when he is not on board. It was used most before the death of his wife in 2012 and mainly between 2003 and 2007 when Jaume Matas was the regional president.

Perez is also president of construction group ACS which carried out almost 20 per cent of public works under Matas, making more than €200 million in four years. Meanwhile, the competition was assigned less than four per cent of public works. This is why he will have to appear before a judge in September as a witness in the investigation into the Balearic Government regarding the contract to build Son Espases Hospital. He has already said that he “hardly knew” Jaume Matas. However, the former health councillor, Aina Castillo, claims that Matas told her if Perez didn’t get the contract there would be a “political problem.”
