A WOMAN at a Chinese airport tried to get round the ‘no liquids in hand luggage’ rule by downing a full bottle of cognac at a security gate. The fault in her plan became clear just a short while later when she collapsed and was declared too drunk to fly.
The Chinese passenger, named only as Zhao, was transferring flights at Beijing Capital international airport when she was told she could not take her €163 bottle of Rémy Martin XO Excellence, bought at an American airport duty free, on to the plane.
Rather than waste a precious drop, she drank the lot, but soon after had to receive medical attention from airport emergency staff.
“She was so drunk… she couldn’t even stand up herself. We took her to a room in a wheelchair so she could rest,” a police officer told The Beijing Times.
According to the South China Morning Post, the woman’s family were contacted who then travelled to the city to collect her.
