TWO Almeria men have been arrested accused of fraud after a hotel was stripped of its fixtures and fittings.
Both men, who already had a criminal record, are said to have defrauded an Alpujarra (Granada) business owner of more than €200,000. The suspected hustlers agreed to purchase a hotel that the victim owned in Albondon (Granada) and it’s alleged they then took the chance to seize a large amount of furniture, bathroom fixtures, doors, kitchen appliances and other items from the 48 rooms of the facilities.
It’s claimed they also took all plumbing devices and copper cables, causing at least €50,000 in damage.
The victim filed an official report at the Motril Guardia Civil station after finding out his hotel had been completely ripped apart. The two men were arrested last week in Almeria.
All the stolen items have been returned to their owner, despite most of them having already been sold on.
