ATHLETICS: For the pure of mind.

THE Sexitanos Athletics Club based in Almuñécar, Granada has been given the runaround by the moderators of Facebook.
Wanting to move into the cyber age, the club thought that it was about time that they set up their own Facebook page to let people know what they do, but faced a very unexpected response.
Apparently their name had connotations of a sexual nature and as such was not acceptable to the American-owned social network. Whilst modern America was founded by the Puritans, this did seem somewhat unreasonable to the management of the club.
A small amount of investigation would have easily shown that the town was originally settled by the Phoenicians and was named Sexi. Those who came from the town became known as Sexitanos and that is the name that the town finally adopted.
After trying a number of times to have their official name accepted without any luck, the club changed the first letter of its name and can now be proudly found on Facebook as Atletismo Çexitano.
