THOUSANDS of children in Almeria have been able to continue learning despite having to deal with an illness or health problem at the hospital.
A total of 1,834 minors have received educational assistance at the hospital classrooms in the Torrecardenas hospital in Almeria, La Inmaculada in Huercal-Overa and Poniente in El Ejido during the year 2014-2015. These children participated in educational activities with the aim of contributing to their intellectual, emotional and social development while they were hospitalised.
Professionals at the hospital have the goal of reducing the impact of school absenteeism that many children have to experience due to their health problems as well as make their stay at the hospital easier to cope with.
