THE Malaga provincial emergency services coordination centre has reported dealing with 38 accidents in which victims almost drowned over June and July, almost twice as many as the same two months last year.
The centre stressed that the summer and water combination is particularly dangerous for children and reported that one third of victims were found to be under the age of 14.
In fact, drowning is the second most common cause of death amongst under-19-year-olds in the European Union, beaten only by traffic accidents.
