Mumtaz Mahal Indian in Coin

MUMTAZ MAHAL: They know how to attract a loyal following.

I HAD heard about the Mumtaz Mahal Indian Restaurant from various walks of life and all of whom had one thing in common which was the love of good food. As I was due to sample a curry, I headed for Coin where I have friends in the area and who were eager to join me for an evening out and catch up.
On arrival at the Mumtaz I passed through the shaded terrace to the inside restaurant area where I was welcomed by the excellent air-conditioned room and a smile from the owner, Sohail. My friends arrived a few minutes later and the staff instantly recognised them as regulars, which was another welcoming surprise, as the food was sure to be good if this was their chosen restaurant. These particular friends of mine set the standard at its highest level, so this had better be good!. However, they were confident in ordering as they had done this many times before.
The service was attentive but not overwhelming as we enjoyed a pre-dinner drink including wines and traditional Cobra beer, though there is lots more choice. The food arrived and we had chosen lots of dishes to mix and match with all the extras including salads and naan breads. Each selection was perfectly prepared and tasted delicious, the Tarka Dhal is a favourite of mine, and this was the best I have tasted on my travels on the Costa del Sol.
All the other dishes reflected the same quality as we shared Makhni, Tikka Masala, Korma, Garlic Chilli curry along with rice, cheese naan, salads and chapaties. There is so much choice on the menu, vegetarians will be lost for choice and also children, as there are some mini mild dishes to tempt them.
No wonder Sohail and his staff have kept the business strong over the past 10 years, it is obvious that he knows how to attract a loyal following.

The Mumtaz Muhal is a must to visit if you are in search of that perfect curry. Open 1.30pm-4.00pm and 7.30pm-12.00pm
